Surgery

So today was the big day for Eleri. It started with a early wake up at 5.00am so that she could have a small drink of water before going Nil by Mouth. We arrived on Badger Ward at 7.30am. Eleri had to wait for a while before getting a bed, it was really busy. Eleri went to the operating theatre about 2.50pm, the operation lasted about an hour. You can see some pictures of Eleri's day, firstly, is her having her stats taken. Secondly, a few minutes before going to surgery and thirdly Eleri on PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit ). This was a about three hours after surgery, you maybe can just make out Eleri eating what she called the best toast ever, well she had gone without food for nearly 20 hours. The doctors are very happy with the progress that Eleri is making and hope to release her soon. Eleri said that one of the doctors looked like Mr Passmore, so that made her smile. Mae Eleri yn ddweud helo i bawb yn Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran, yn enwedig dosbarth Mr Passmore a Miss Norman.

Take 2

Arrived back in London today, for the second attempt at having Eleri's tonsils and adenoids removed. Everyone that knows Eleri, knows that it means a visit to Pizza Express. It has become somewhat of a routine now (albeit at times a little expensive ). The image above shows Eleri tucking into her Chocolate Sundae and BambinoChino ( Kids Coffee - frothy milk and chocolate ). This all after Doughballs and salad and a Margarita Pizza. Eleri enjoyed her evening at the Brownies/scouts/guides group at GOSH, she had a go at some ten pin bowling then went on a quiz hunt throughout the hospital. All settled in bed now listening to her podcasts on her ipod........every couple of seconds we hear giggling from her direction.

Cooking with Patrick Drake.

Today can only be described as amazing for Eleri. She was given the opportunity to support the manufacturers of her Snapdragon, In addition she was able to cook with Chef Patrick Drake. They spent the afternoon, preparing and making pizza from scratch, with Eleri available to offer advice (on more than one occasion) to Patrick. The pizza was a huge hit with everyone. There will be footage to follow in due course.

Eleri is now officially an inpatient at Great Ormond Street Hospital. On Monday and Tuesday, Eleri will have a machine fitted, it will make it easier for Eleri to breathe in the nights ( and not snore so loud ). The machine is called a BiPAP ( Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure). Following this, on wednesday, Eleri will be having her Tonsils and adenoids removed. Eleri will have to spend some time in the Intensive Care Unit after this to help her recover as best as she can. But, fear not, Eleri will be back to terrorise everyone back home before you know it.

Spinal surgery date is set

So, after my visit to Great Ormond Street this past week my spinal surgery was discussed with Mr Ember, one of the two surgeons who will do my operation.
My surgery has been pencilled in for the 21st of August at GOSH.
Before this though, I need to have my tonsils removed and go onto a machine called Bi Pap. It is a machine that will help me when I'm asleep.
